Edelman Sultan Knox Wood Architects selected BC Ltd. to design the rear-yard of True Colors Residence, a project sponsored by the West End Intergenerational Residence and Cyndi Lauper .
True Colors Residence, which opened in Central Harlem this past summer, is the first permanent, supportive housing facility for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth in New York State and is a finalist in Affordable Housing Finance Magazine’s Most Valuable Projects Reader’s Choice Awards.
The completed design includes multi-level gathering areas, an exercise “pad”, and stairs to the lower level which create bleacher-style seating. BC ltd also designed the signage with changing colors and lyrics from the inspirational song as a dedication and memorial for Ms. Lauper’s friend .
